RNCM International Brass Band Festival 2025 - Black Dyke Band
Saturday evening's concert at the 2025 RNCM International Brass Band Festival welcomed Black Dyke Band with special guest soloists David Childs and Ian Bousfield. Introduced by Simone Rebello, the band includes major recent works from the pens of Philip Wilby, Peter Graham and Sir Karl Jenkins. The second half of the programme opened with a premiere written and conducted by Andrea Price, And Earth Raised Up Her Head. The final two pieces are from Edward Gregson, celebrating his 80th year, with his Trombone Concerto featuring one of the most influential soloists of his generation, Ian Bousfield, and the major work Of Men and Mountains, inspired by a trip the composer took through the Rocky Mountains in Canada. In a tribute to Elgar Howarth, the band concludes with two movements from his Music from the Elizabethan Court
