RNCM International Brass Band Festival 2024 - RNCM Brass Band
The Sunday morning concert at the 2024 RNCM International Brass Band Festival, filmed at the RNCM Concert Hall on Sunday 28 January 2024, was given by the RNCM Brass Band. They welcomed James Gourlay, former Head of Wind, Brass and Percussion at the College and current Besson International Chair of Brass to conduct an eclectic programme that transcends borders, beginning with an energetic piece by Venezuelan composer Giancarlo Castro before moving into a deeply emotional and beautiful work by Martin Ellerby.
Gary Curtin was welcomed to give the world premiere of Tom Harrold's Deep Surge. Following two pieces by the Festival's featured composers Dorothy Gates and Oliver Waespi, the programme is rounded off by Thai composer Pimpanit Karoonyavanich's A Journey to the Bermuda Triangle, which was inspired by her favourite sea view painting by Romain Steppe (1859-1927).
Another World features Rosamund Brass with guest tuba player James Gourlay, Adam Hofland-Ward & Seb Williman (cornets), Georgina Woodhead (tenor horn) & Alex Barron (euphonium).
