RNCM International Brass Band Festival 2025 - Foden's Band
In the first concert of the 2025 RNCM International Brass Band Festival, filmed at the RNCM Concert Hall on Friday 24 January 2025, Tom Redmond introduces a concert by Foden's Band directed by Michael Fowles. The concert opens with an exhilarating fantasia infused with dance themes before tenor horn virtuoso Tim de Maeseneer performs the world première of Edward Gregson’s Three Gods, Concerto for tenor horn, a highlight of the festival’s celebration of Gregson’s 80th birthday.
Elgar Howarth's witty and inventive Fireworks closes the first half of the concert in the first of several musical tributes to the late composer over this festival.
David Stanhope’s three British folksong settings pave the way for the UK première of Elisabeth Vannebo’s Elektrodesign before Foden’s Band conclude the evening with John McCabe’s Cloudcatcher Fells.
