RNCM International Brass Band Festival 2025 - Cory Band
Cory Band was welcomed to the stage of the RNCM Concert Hall on the afternoon of Sunday 26 January 2025 as part of the 2025 RNCM International Brass Band Festival. Introduced by Simone Rebello, the band opened with the winning composition from the band's composition competition, Storm! by the Frenchman Thibaut Bruniaux. Next was the Concerto for Tuba, Amaia, which was newly arranged for brass band by the soloist Tommy Tynan. Originally for tuba soloist and wind band, the composer Ricardo Mollá gave the background to his composition. Following a step back to 1922 and Hubert Bath's "Symphony No. 1 for Brass Band" Freedom, we are treated to a new version of ensemble mécanique from the Thai composer Viskamol Chaiwanichsiri. The concert continued with Dances and Arias from Edward Gregson, the Festival's featured composer, before concluding with Zurich March in tribute to Elgar Howath.
